3000 Ravensburger (80 x 121)
Grand Canal, Venice
Friedrich Nerly
Production Date 2009
*Gifted*

Leyla and I completed this puzzle in just over a week at the end of 2024 as a gift for one of her relatives. It turned out to be somewhat simple, with the repeat pattern coming in handy to finish the sky.

The quality was top notch, as is the case with almost all Ravensburger puzzles. My only minor complaint was the visible vertical seam, which is noticeably, especially in the sky.

From the Stadel Museum:

Dusk over Venice: the fishermen on the Canale Grande are hauling in their nets and the market women pause for a moment to gossip. Bathed in a warm light by the evening sun, the city, the water and the sky fuse into one. The delicate blue of the sky can scarcely be distinguished from the white of the limestone. Many nineteenth-century artists fell for the charms of the city on the lagoon with its waterways and magnificent palazzi. Friedrich Nerly lived there for over forty years, from 1837 until his death. His main works consist of cityscapes of Venice.
